DC rapid chargers

DC rapid chargers represent the quickest method for recharging electric vehicles. This category of “Rapid Chargers” can be further divided into ultra-rapid and rapid chargers and typically offer charging speeds of between 50kW and 350kW. These types of chargers are suited to service stations, rest areas or anywhere that could be a stop off for an EV driver on a long journey. DC rapid chargers can charge a car to 80% in under half an hour and so are perfect in locations where someone might pop in for a coffee and comfort break

Rapid Charging

Rapid chargers, known for their ability to charge electric vehicles (EVs) swiftly, are frequently located at motorway service stations. These chargers provide high-power DC or AC current and can replenish an EV's battery to 80% capacity in less than an hour. Typically, the charging cable is permanently attached or tethered to the charging unit.

Fast Charging

Fast chargers, ranging in power from 7kW to 22kW, can completely charge an electric vehicle within 3-4 hours. These chargers are typically installed at locations such as supermarkets, leisure centers, and areas where vehicles are parked for an extended period, generally over an hour. These charge points can be provided either tethered or untethered.

Slow Charging

Slow chargers, typically rated at up to 3kW, are commonly found in residential locations, where vehicles often remain parked overnight. These chargers typically take an average of 6 to 12 hours to fully charge a pure electric vehicle (EV).
